In 1991 Debbie S. Janisse (Garten) started Martial Arts training under 2nd degree Black Belt Kevin Janisse after watching a martial arts demonstration in Charlevoix, MI featuring him In 1996 Debbie earned her promotion to 1st degree black belt in Kuk Sool Won (#A-10084). In 1998 Debbie earned her promotion to 2nd degree black belt in Kuk Sool Hap Ki Do. In 1999 Debbie assisted Master Kevin Janisse in opening a Kong Shin Bup school in Roscoe, IL. In 2003 Debbie earned her promotion to 3rd degree black belt in Kuk Sool Hap Ki Do. In 2003 Debbie assisted Master Kevin Janisse in opening a Kong Shin Bup school in Clackamas, OR. In 2004 Debbie earned her promotion to 4th degree black belt (Sa Bum Nim) and was also recognized by the Korean Hanminjok Hapkido Association. In 2010 Master Debbie earned her promotion to 5th degree black belt (Kwan Jang Nim) after a long and demanding test.
